A sustainable start to the Summer festival season: myclimate and the OpenAir St.Gallen are climate protection partners

The OpenAir St.Gallen has been committed to environmentally-sustainable festival operations for many years. In order to further develop in terms of sustainability, the festival has now entered into a partnership with myclimate. The first area which has been developed further by both parties is the on-site catering area.

In the context of an order for the reffnet.ch association, myclimate worked with the organising committee to draw up guidelines for the operators of food stands. This was based on data on the offerings and source of ingredients collected via questionnaire. This benefits festival guests who can search ahead of time for information on which stands offer regional and vegetarian menus and which ones use fair trade products and Swiss meat from sources that comply with animal welfare guidelines.

myclimate had drawn up a carbon footprint for the <link www.openairsg.ch/en/ - external-link "Opens external link in current window">OpenAir St.Gallen</link> even before implementing this most recent concrete measure. It revealed that the “Food” sector offered the greatest potential for reducing emissions.

The OpenAir St.Gallen has committed itself to improving its sustainability strategy. Michaela Tanner, Head of Sustainability for the OpenAir St.Gallen explains: “We want to give our stand operators a tool allowing them to be more sustainable and to align their products and offers with the spirit of the OASG.”
