Solabiol offsets 5 kg CO2 per sold product with myclimate Germany

Solabiol also wants to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and has therefore launched its own climate protection campaign: For every product that the manufacturer of biological pesticides and fertilizers sells this year, it will have five kilograms CO2 offset via the climate protection organisation myclimate Deutschland.

Solabiol offsets 5 kg CO2 per sold product with myclimate Germany

This amount corresponds to a car journey of 40 kilometres or a 13-watt light bulb that burns continuously for a month. In this way, a total of 2,500 tons of CO2 are to be saved by the end of the year. So far, the campaign has already saved over 240 t CO2.

The CO2 saving of Solabiol is possible because the company supports the Gold Standard certified myclimate project "Clean drinking water for schools and households through filter systems" in Uganda. The main goal of this carbon offset programme is to supply poorer households and institutions such as schools in Uganda with new technologies to clean drinking water. The resulting reduced consumption of non-renewable firewood and charcoal reduces CO2 emissions and at the same time has a positive effect on the living conditions and health of thousands of people.

The background is that in Uganda, 40 percent of the population boils water, and even a larger proportion does not treat the water at all. In addition, the use of wood for cooking and boiling water is one of the main reasons for deforestation worldwide. Burning wood not only damages the environment, but is also bad for health. In addition, women and children spend many hours searching for wood instead of using the time for more productive activities.
