myclimate welcomes three new members to the advisory board

The myclimate advisory board welcomes three new members who will be advising myclimate Germany with immediate effect - Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter, Bernhard Schwager and Jens Vollprecht. The latter replaces his colleague Christian Held, who is stepping down from the advisory board. Dagmar Dehmer and Rainer van Loon are also leaving the advisory board. We would like to thank them for their support over the past years. The members of the advisory board bring a broad spectrum of expertise in their respective fields for a sustainable development of myclimate's work and for more sustainable climate protection in Germany.

Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter, Bernhard Schwager und Jens Vollprecht (f.l.t.r.)

Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter, Bernhard Schager and Jens Vollprecht introduce themselves. Together with the previous advisory board members Prof. Ortwin Renn, Sabine Nallinger, Franzjosef Schafhausen and Fritz Lietsch, they will accompany myclimate and provide professional, scientific, legal and practical support for the development of myclimate Germany. The new advisory board will be in place until 31 March 2025.

 

Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter 

He holds a doctorate in philosophy and business administration, is an internationally recognised sustainability expert and editor of the management series «Corporate Social Responsibility» published by SpringerGabler. For over 20 years he has been working to overcome the old trade-off thinking in management and thus create the scientific basis for sustainable business studies. He teaches sustainable management at the IU -International University of Applied Sciences in Munich and holds a research professorship at the BFH in Bern. He has been working and researching in the field of corporate social responsibility at home and abroad for over 20 years. He has worked on numerous practical projects with well-known companies from the finance, media, automotive, energy and technology sectors, as well as with trade associations, NGOs and foundations.

 

Bernhard Schwager 

He studied technical chemistry at the Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences from 1980 to 1985. Between 1985 and 2005, he first worked as an environmental protection officer at a plant and later as a consultant for the corporate departments of environmental protection and technical safety at Siemens AG. He then moved to Robert Bosch GmbH, where he headed the Sustainability Office in the Corporate Communications Department. In mid-2020, he moved to the management of OmniCert Consulting GmbH and in this role is, among other things, the contact person for the various stakeholder groups and drives sustainability topics such as climate protection and management systems. In addition, the environmental scientist represents the company in various national organisations and associations. In May 2006, Schwager was elected president of the Verband der Betriebsbeauftragten für Umweltschutz e.V. (VBU) and in May 2008 he was elected chairman of the Ausschuss Umweltmanagementsystem/Umweltaudi at the im deutschen Institut für Normung (DIN), and in August 2017 he was elected to the extended board of the Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für umweltbewusstes Management (B.A.U.M. e.V.) and in June 2018 to the board of the German Network for Business Ethics (DNWE). Since January 2009, he holds a Master of Environmental Sciences and is author or co-author of various books and articles.

 

Jens Vollprecht

He is a lawyer, forestry graduate (Univ.) and partner at BBH Becker Büttner Held. After studying forestry in Freiburg/Breisgau and Göttingen with a focus on biology and ecology, he studied law in Göttingen and Hamburg with a focus on environmental and planning law. During his studies, he worked at the Nordwestdeutschen Forstlichen Versuchsanstalt and Institut für Forstbotanik der Fakultät für Forstwissenschaften in Göttingen and at the Environmental Law Research Unit of Prof. Dr. H.-J. Koch in Hamburg, among others. He completed his legal clerkship in Lower Saxony (Celle Higher Regional Court) from 2002 to 2004. 
Jens Vollprecht has been a lawyer at BBH Berlin since 2005 and a partner since 2013. He manages projects in the field of renewable energies and advises federal and state ministries on the further development of the legal framework. Currently, he is particularly involved in the topics of sustainability, agri- and peatland photovoltaics, hydrogen and electricity storage. Voluntary climate compensation through forest protection and reforestation is currently another field of his work.
He is a member of the Legal Working Group at the Bundesverband Energiespeicher Systeme e.V. (BVES), the Renewable Energies Working Group Erneuerbare Energien beim Verband Kommunaler Unternehmen e.V. (VKU) and the Working Group Agri-Photovoltaik from Forschungsnetzwerks Erneuerbare Energien. Jens Vollprecht regularly lectures and publishes on renewable energy law and is co-editor and co-author of the commentary on the Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz published by C.H. Beck (5th edition in preparation).
