Beckhoff has chosen one of the 125 high-quality carbon offset projects from myclimate to offset around 21,700 t of unavoidable CO2 emissions for the 2019 business year. With its climate protection contribution, the automation specialist from Verl supports the myclimate project "Back to the Green Island with Efficient and Solar Stoves" with energy-saving and solar cookers. Like all myclimate projects, it is certified according to the highest quality standards. In this case with the Gold Standard.

The spread of energy-saving and solar cookers is effectively counteracting the rapidly increasing deforestation in Madagascar, as the efficiency cookers halve the amount of wood required compared to open fires. Each stove sold saves about 1.7 tons of CO2 per year. By means of the compensation for the year 2019, Beckhoff will subsidize a total of over 4000 stoves.

Parallel to this, the specialist for automation systems carries out many measures to avoid CO2 in the company. These include, for example, solar power generation, the use of electric and hybrid vehicles or energy-saving measures through the modernization of the building envelope and infrastructure in production and administration. The development of automation technologies for energy and resource-saving production also represents a contribution to climate protection for the company.

In order to avoid CO2 emissions and promote the expansion of renewable energies, Beckhoff has also been using green electricity since January 2020. This year, the company will again offset its unavoidable CO2 emissions through support of the myclimate project. Further measures to increase energy efficiency will be implemented in production as well as in the conversion and renovation of buildings and infrastructure in the future. In the long term, the company would like to continue to reduce its CO2 emissions to a minimum and, if possible, completely eliminate them.
