myclimate is partner of the climate protection campaign «Sports4Trees»

The non-profit climate protection organisation myclimate is a partner of the climate protection campaign «Sports4Trees» , which the association «Sports for Future e. V.» recently launched. With this campaign, the initiators primarily want to activate the world of sports to make a contribution to climate protection. However, other social actors outside of sport are also to be reached in order to jointly meet the challenges of the climate crisis. myclimate offers all campaign participants two high-quality reforestation projects that meet the high «Plan Vivo» quality standard.

Sports for Future has already attracted a considerable number of prominent supporters for the  «Sports4Trees» campaign, such as the non-profit Dietmar Hopp Foundation, the first division football clubs TSG Hoffenheim and FC Bayern Munich, as well as other well-known associations, clubs and contributors. In addition, Sports for Future recently announced an official cooperation with the Allianz Foundation for Development and Climate, which was initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The head of the above-mentioned ministry, Federal Minister Gerd Müller, is enthusiastic about this: «Sports for Future is a great initiative. It shows: Don't wait, start by yourself. With the help of the supporters already won, Sports for Future can reach up to 22 million sportsmen and women in Germany. And many of them are already taking part in climate protection by making sports clubs climate-neutral, supporting reforestation projects or offering sustainable fan articles. I hope that we will inspire many more actors from the sports environment to support development and climate protection.»

The website  «sports4trees.com» lists some of the ways in which interested parties can support the campaign and actively participate. In addition to direct donations, supporters have the option of sponsoring forests, setting up tree money boxes, organising donation runs, offering climate tickets or becoming brand ambassadors. In addition, all participants are invited to launch completely new and individual campaigns and challenges to support the campaign. All donations flow 100 % directly into the eight projects currently available for selection.

The first tree planting and education projects in Senegal, Nigeria, Congo, Tanzania and Kenya are already being implemented with partners such as myclimate, the WWF and the Zenaga Foundation. myclimate has two high-quality carbon offset projects that meet the «Plan Vivo» quality standard. One is the forest conservation project in Tanzania «Protection of Tanzanian forests for indigenous peoples, wild animals and the climate» and the other is the reforestation project in Uganda «Small farmers reforest forests». TSG-Hoffenheim also supports the latter within the framework of its «Climate Ticket» campaign, where buyers of a TSG-Hoffenheim ticket can additionally book an unlimited number of tree seedlings per ticket in the online shop.

Together with all climate protection partners and donors, the still young reforestation campaign «Sports4Trees» has already planted 50,000 trees in Africa and 100,000 mangroves in the Philippines, protected a forest area the size of 3,650 football pitches and involved around 15,000 schoolchildren.
